Jacombpura settlement in Gurgaon city, Haryana, India

Jacombpura is a settlement within the city of Gurgaon, Haryana state, on the outskirts of New Delhi, India.

India's The Tribune newspaper's website details the history of Gurgaon city and Jacombpura within it. The Tribune notes that according to the Gurgaon district Gazetteer of 1884 Jacombpura "was laid out by a former Deputy Commissioner, Mr Jacomb, in 1861, for the accommodation of government servants." A map to illustrate Jacombpura's exact position cannot be found on the internet but Jacomb.com hopes to have a map on the site or a link to one elsewhere soon.

It is possible (though unconfirmed) that the Jacomb involved is a Herbert Edward Jacomb (c.1838-1924) who was a member of the Indian Civil Service. It is equally possible, however, that the Jacomb is another individual entirely.
