What if I don't like what you have put online, for example the birth, marriage and death indexes? What about the UK Data Protection Act 1998?

No births, marriages, deaths, census information or wills of living people have been or will be placed on Jacomb.com. If a living individual is named in the will of a deceased which appears on Jacomb.com and that named individual wishes for the will transcription to be partially censored this can be done by contacting the webmaster but must be done by the named individual themself. The UK Data Protection Act (DPA) 1998 protects living individuals from the misuse of their personal information. It does not cover deceased individuals. Only in exceptional circumstances may material be removed from Jacomb.com where it concerns deceased individuals however this material remains accessible to the public elsewhere even if it is removed from Jacomb.com.

What information is electronically gathered by Jacomb.com on its visitors?

Jacomb.com is not intended as a business site where transactions may take place. The only information gathered on visitors to the Jacomb.com site is through the use and operation of the visitor counter on the index.htm ('Welcome') page. This information comes in the form of an overall number of visitors per day & per week to the site, collected by TheCounter.com.
The Jacomb.com website does not record e-mail addresses of the visitors to the web site. The only exceptions to this are: 1) where e-mail addresses may be recorded of those who contact the webmaster@jacomb.com e-mail address in reference to the site; 2) where items have been submitted for display on the website and the submitter's contact email address is displayed.
