Images
Images should be emailed at either a .GIF (transparent or non-transparent) or .JPEG image format. Ideally they should be no bigger than 60Kb (please email about larger images). If you are sending a black and white picture, saving the image as a 'greyscale' image (as opposed to a colour image) can reduce the size of the file considerably. This can allow you to keep the viewable size of the image bigger to bring out the detail.
Jacomb.com reserves the right to use thumbnail images linking to the full images to increase page loading speeds. Please also include a contact email at the foot of the email as this will allow visitors viewing the image to contact you.

Documents
Documents - research, stories, biographies etc.- can be emailed in most formats: .DOC, .LWP, .RTF, .TXT etc.. If the document has any pictures incorporated into it please send these as separate images in addition to the document. The document will be converted into a web page, please indicate whether in addition to this you would like a link where the document can be downloaded in its original form.

1901 Census Transcription
Copy and paste the type below into a blank email with '1901 Census' as the Subject. The 1881 census household transcriptions on Jacomb.com do not include any non-Jacomb residents. This is going to be revised. For the 1901, please include all residents in the property. If you did not view the full household listing (or did not record the other occupants), only the individual listing on the PRO 1901 Census website, please add the words 'NOT FULL HOUSEHOLD' at the start of the email. If you have transcribed the details from an image of the handwritten census return (as opposed to the typed transcription) please indicate this at the start of the email with the words 'TRANSCRIBED FROM HAND'. Type text as it appears on the census image or transcription, including any capitalised letters and punctuation. Include spelling errors as they occur in the transcription and insert '- - -' where a box on the census is left empty. Important Note: The full Public Record Office (PRO) reference must be included for each household, i.e., RG Number, Piece, Folio, Page and Schedule or the transcription cannot be put on Jacomb.com. If you are sending more than one household transcription please use a new email for each household. Include a contact email at the foot of the email as this will allow visitors viewing the transcription to contact you.
