This worldwide distribution is taken from
that given by Burke's Peerage in a Jacomb surname-specific publication
produced around 1994. No distribution is ever going to be 100% accurate,
but at the very least one can see the minimum scale of the numbers involved
- and the countries involved. One thing to remember is that this distribution
is based upon the number of households - not the number of people
- named Jacomb in the countries.
Over 220m names and address records were searched, the sources include
electoral rolls, telephone books, city directories and miscellaneous public
surname lists.
